I created this piece for my own home, as a way to explore how far I could push the scale of my work.
At approximately 1.5 metres square, it brings the geometry into a more direct relationship with the room around it.
The palette draws from the colours and textures I live with, alongside my longstanding attraction to brutalist interiors. Warm terracotta, ochre and muted earth tones soften the angular structure. I left the painted surface raw, without a final matte coating, allowing its texture and irregularities to remain visible.
For me, the piece holds a softer expression of brutalism: substantial in scale, but warm and tactile enough to live with.
